Outcomes : Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine which, in its true form, occurs in 3 planes along with rotation. In broad terms, scoliosis can be categorised in to idiopathic (infant, juvenile or adolescent) or adult degenerative scoliosis. Dr Sergides treats only adult scoliosis. In some cases, these are adolescent scolioses which have progressed in adulthood, but for the most part they are adult degenerative scolioses. Scoliosis surgery involves corrective surgery to restore the favourable spinal curvatures and restore spinal balance and then holding the spine in the correct shape with instrumentation. It is usually extensive surgery.
